Two people were taken to National University Hospital (NUH) after a segment of a roof at College Central’s Institute of Technical Education (ITE) buckled in heavy rain on Wednesday April 6.
The Singapore Civil Defense Force (SCDF) told AsiaOne that it received a call for help around 5.30pm on Wednesday and two people were then transported to NUH.
A nearby viewer recorded video of the roof with pouring rain, zooming in on the hole in the roof several times as water fell on the first floor of the building.
The short clip was uploaded to TikTok and has garnered over 148,000 views at the time of writing.
Another viewer uploaded Instagram stories lamenting that such an incident could only happen in ITE.
In the comments section of the TikTok video, netizens were rather cold on the issue and didn’t seem to understand the possible dangers surrounding such an incident.
“Sounds pretty cool I’m not gonna lie,” one wrote as the TikTok creator replied mentioning how cool it was.
This is not the first such incident to occur at ITE College Central.
In November 2020, a roof pump malfunctioned and rainwater pooled on the “bubble roof”.
AsiaOne has contacted ITE College Central for more information.
