The southwest monsoon known locally as the “habagat” will bring rain showers or isolated thunderstorms to Metro Manila and the rest of the country over the next 24 hours, the United States Administration said on Tuesday. Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services (Pagasa).

Meteorological specialist Aldczar Aurelio said the habagat specifically affects areas in northern and central Luzon where rain showers and scattered thunderstorms can be felt.

In particular, Aurelio said that Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, Aurora, Zambales and Bataan will have cloudy skies in 24 hours.

“Flash flooding or landslides due to moderate to sometimes heavy rains are possible in these areas,” according to Aurelio.

Generally, the Pagasa forecaster said Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have favorable weather conditions, but may have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with rain showers or isolated thunderstorms due localized thunderstorms reinforced by the habagat.
