Volition today released a brand new trailer for the upcoming open-world crime festival reboot, Saints Row.

The reboot of Volition’s most popular product is a week away, so it’s time for the marketing department to kick things into high gear. They also have a new trailer showcasing the goofy humor the series is known for, as well as actual gameplay of its huge open world.

The trailer opens with some fleeting aerial views of the brand new gaming space that fans will very soon call home, Santo Ileso, before dialing the action up to 11 with the Saints robbing a store, attacking a convoy of trucks and starting a bar fight with one of the game’s contending gangs, among other death-defying but awesome activities while establishing the game’s basic premise.

Oh, there’s also a porta-potty that’s dragged through a hippie festival, destroying tents as it takes its poo on the road. So it’s fair to say that the series’ humor seems to be intact, though we’ll know for sure once the full release wraps on August 23rd.

Saints Row is a reboot of the original series with no connection to the previous stories told over the previous four games. There will still be a few nods to its lineage as Volition doesn’t completely erase its history, but it will act as a standalone release that will serve as a new starting point for the franchise moving forward.

Saints Row releases August 23 on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, and Google Stadia. If you’re wondering how much space the game will take up on your hard drive, the PS5 and PS4 store listings have revealed the install sizes for each version of the game.
