The brief term of the last general manager of the Muskoka Marketing and Tourism Agency has come to an end.

In a July 12 statement, the Muskoka Tourism Board of Directors said that effective immediately, Janet O’Connell is no longer employed by the Muskoka Tourism Marketing Agency. O’Connell was hired in September 2020 after more than 30 years in the tourism and nonprofit sectors.

“We appreciate the work Janet has done for Muskoka Tourism and wish her the best in her future endeavours,” the statement read.

According to the MTMA, all projects O’Connel has been involved with will now be managed by the communications manager on an interim basis.

“The board will share more details when they become available to fill this position on a permanent basis,” says the MTMA.

The 2022 marketing plan will continue to be executed as planned and presented, they continue.

“The Board of Directors is extremely committed to ensuring that Muskoka Tourism creates innovative and creative marketing to inspire visitors to choose Muskoka first and often as their destination of choice throughout the year.
