Heavy rain in South Delhi, Gurgaon; waterlogging reported in some parts

Parts of South Delhi, as well as Gurgaon, received heavy rain on Sunday morning, with several key roads reporting congestion, even as the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted moderate rain in the capital during the day.

The city did not experience rain between 8:30 a.m. Saturday and 8:30 a.m. Sunday. After that, Palam, Ayanagar and Pusa Road witnessed a heavy downpour.

In Palam, 32 mm of rain was observed in three hours between 8:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. At Pusa Road, 21mm of rain was observed and 20mm was recorded at Ayanagar. Safdarjung (2.4mm), Lodhi Road (1.2mm) and Ridge (1.4mm) experienced only light rain during the same period.

The minimum temperature recorded on Sunday morning was 27.4 degrees Celsius, one degree below normal. The maximum temperature should be around 31 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature is expected to rise and touch 36 degrees Celsius on Wednesday.

Light rain and thunderstorms are expected over the coming week.
