MUMBAI: Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar said on Saturday he had tested positive for the novel coronavirus. In a brief statement posted on his official Instagram page, the 53-year-old filmmaker said he was experiencing mild symptoms and had isolated himself.

“I tested positive for Covid. I have been fully vaccinated but have mild symptoms. I have isolated myself,” he wrote. The award-winning national director urged people to follow necessary COVID-19 guidelines.

“Those who have come in contact with me are kind enough to get you tested. Be careful and follow the Covid-19 protocols,” he added.

According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), Mumbai reported 20,927 COVID-19 cases and six deaths on Friday.
