Unseasonable rains hit many parts of Kothagudem

Kothagudem: Unseasonal rains accompanied by strong gales hit many parts of Kothagudem district on Wednesday evening, disrupting normal life. The heavy rains interrupted the power supply for long hours and caused heavy traffic jams in the city of Kothagudem. Many low-lying areas and main roads were flooded with rainwater, slowing vehicle traffic on the roads.

Heavy logging was observed at the railway under the bridge, Vidya Nagar settlement and other parts of the city. Vehicle traffic was heavily blocked on the main road at the SCCL headquarters. The traffic jam was caused by a wall built over a passageway leading to SCCL’s main workshop, residents said. Rainwater entered houses located in low areas. Meanwhile, mango orchards that were in the flowering stage due to winds and rains.

Standing crops like paddy suffered losses due to rains in Chunchupalli, Sujathanagar, Paloncha, Julurpad mandals in the district.
