Guwahati: Two earthquakes of magnitude 3.5 and 3.8 hit parts of the Northeast region within 30 minutes on Monday, the National Seismology Center said.
There were no immediate reports of loss of life or property damage, officials said.
The first magnitude 3.5 earthquake occurred at 2:11 a.m. and the epicenter was in Cachar district of Assam, the NCS said.
The depth of the earthquake was 35 km, he said.
The second magnitude 3.8 tremor was recorded at 2:39 a.m. with the epicenter in the Kangpokpi region of Manipur.
The depth was 20 km, the nodal agency of the Earthquake Monitoring Center said.
An earthquake measuring 4 on the Richter scale was recorded in Kangpokpi on January 13, according to the NCS.

Three other tremors have hit various parts of Manipur since the start of the new year, including two on January 4 in Tamenglong and Chandel regions.
The third was in Kamjong on January 16.
Assam reported another 3.2 magnitude earthquake in Sonitpur on January 6.
The Northeast region falls into the high seismic zone.
