Tractor-trailer crash blocking parts of I-40 in northern Arizona

The collision caused traffic delays around mile marker 146.

YAVAPAI COUNTY, Ariz. – A tractor-trailer collision has blocked the eastbound lanes of Interstate 40 in northern Arizona.

The crash was reported Wednesday afternoon near mile marker 160 during noticeable weather activity seen across the state. Authorities say the accident closed the eastbound lanes of the freeway at Ash Fork, near mile marker 146.

According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, a tractor-trailer skidded on the road and crashed into a tractor-trailer.

The DPS said no injuries were reported.

The Arizona Department of Transportation does not have an estimated time for the freeway to fully reopen.

The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) offers driving tips to help keep people safe on the road.

“There is always room for improvement when it comes to road safety,” the ministry said on its website.

ADOT’s suggestions include:

  • Do not speed or drive aggressively

  • Never drive under the influence of substances

  • Avoid distracted driving

  • Wear your seat belt and make sure all passengers do the same

  • When an emergency vehicle is on the side of the road, move

  • Pay close attention to work areas

  • Be prepared for weather conditions that make driving dangerous
