The Vision Maker Media Filmmaker Summit will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on April 30.

This free event provides an opportunity to meet, learn, understand and talk about Indigenous topics today with Native American storytellers from the movies. Audiences can engage and chat with Indigenous filmmakers and hear stories on various themes from selected programs. The event will take place on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus at Nebraska Union and the Johnny Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts.

Native topics offered at the event include traditional ways through food, being stewards of the language through film, Native warrior legacies, Native people who influenced Nebraska history, and love of storytelling.

Nebraska Public Media and Union Bank and Trust are sponsors of this event. Other financial support provided by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, Acton Family Giving, Nebraska Arts Council and Nebraska Cultural Endowment, Lincoln Arts Council, National Endowment for the Arts, Lincoln Community Foundation and Humanities Nebraska and Nebraska Cultural Endowment.
