Jayashankar-Bhupalpally: Organizing events aimed at promoting fitness and sports culture is very common in cities like Hyderabad, and even in tier two cities like Warangal and Karimnagar in the state. But, lately, this sports culture is slowly spreading to the more remote parts of the state, thanks to fitness enthusiasts and sports personalities. Organizing such events will not only raise awareness among young people and others, but will also help the local to generate business as a spin-off.

For the first time, Hyderabad-based fitness group, Jagan Fitness And Running Group, in association with local MP Gandra Venkataramana Reddy and his wife Gandra Jyothi, Chairwoman of Warangal Zilla Parishad, is going to hold Bhupalapally Run-2022 on March 13 in 5 am from Ambedkar stadium of Krishna settlement in Bhupalpally town. “We are organizing this event for the first time in remote parts of the district like Bhupalpally. This is the first of the races. The event will be organized in three categories (5Km, 10Km and 21km). While registration for locals participating in the 5K is free, others (outsiders) must pay for registration. For 10K, the charge is Rs 400 and for 21km, it is Rs 600,” said event organizer Jagan Mohan.

“We provide breakfast and lunch to attendees with accommodation as part of the event,” he said, adding that breakfast alone is served at many such events for attendees. “Gandra Jyothi, who is a well-known marathon runner, is supporting us to organize the event with her MLA husband Venkataramana Reddy,” said Jangan Mohan, recalling that Jyothi (51) has so far competed in Berlin, Boston , Chicago, New York and London Marathons.

“Participants can visit prehistoric sites like Pandavula Gutta in Regonda mandal, a UNESCO heritage site like Ramappa temple in Palamapet in Mulugu district and other sightseeing spots. But they have to make their own arrangements,” said Jagan Mohan and added that other places of tourist interest are; Kaleshwaram Project, Kaleshwara Mukteswara Swamy Temple, Ramappa Lake, Laknavaram Lake and Medaram Sammakka-Saakka Shrine. “Events like this help promote the sports culture in society,” said Ravinder Reddy, a resident of Bhupalpally.

The race starts and ends at Dr.BR Ambedkar Stadium, Krishna Colony in Bhupalpally City. No traffic, no noise or disturbances except the rhythmic tapping of your feet. It will be ‘joy of racing’ at its best,” added Jagna Mohan.
