M25 weekend closures: parts of the M25 at Waltham Cross will be closed this weekend – the full diversion route

Motorists heading along the M25 this weekend are warned that there will be closures around Junction 25. The clockwise exit slip road will be closed to facilitate the upgrade program multi-million level at the junction.

The nearby A10 northbound between Bullsmoor Lane and Junction 25 will also be closed. National Motorways has warned that the southern and western sections of the junction roundabout, from the Holmesdale Tunnel exit slipway to the M25 clockwise exit slipway, must also be closed.

The closures come as the highways agency continues its multi-million pound improvement program at Junction 25.

A National Highways spokesperson said: “From early March we will have a number of full weekend closures on and around Junction 25 as we begin to surface and put up markings traffic on the roundabout.

“We do the coating work in full enclosures to provide more space for our staff to work safely, and this allows us to lay larger areas, resulting in fewer repairs and a smoother finished surface.

“There is never a good time to complete this type of work at a busy intersection such as this, and we anticipate there will be delays due to traffic in the area during the closures. Please anticipate more time on the go.”

Between 10:00 p.m. this evening (Friday March 11) and 5:00 a.m. Monday (March 14) motorists will have to take the following diversions:

  • Deviation from the clockwise exit ramp – drivers should continue on the M25 to Junction 26, they should exit the junction before crossing the two roundabouts and re-entering the M25 at Junction 26. Continue along the motorway to the exit from junction 25.
  • A10 northbound and south and west sections of Junction Roundabout (Holmesdale Tunnel exit to M25 exit clockwise) closure diversion – Drivers should, after leaving the M25, follow the A10 southbound turning left onto Carterhatch Lane before turning onto the A1010 Hertford Road northbound. Take the second exit at the Waltham Cross roundabout onto the A121, before taking the first exit at the second roundabout.
