‘Forever a legend’ – Leeds United fans thank Marcelo Bielsa as he part ways with Los Blancos

Leeds United have announced that manager Marcelo Bielsa has left his post at the club.

Bielsa leaves following Los Blancos’ fourth straight defeat as Tottenham Hotspur lost the emphatic winners 4-0 at Elland Road on Saturday.

His time at Leeds is the longest Bielsa has ever spent at a club in his entire managerial career, his stint spanning over three and a half years.

The 66-year-old transformed the club’s fortunes on and off the pitch as he guided Leeds to promotion to the Premier League in 2020 after a 16-year absence.

In their first season back in the top flight, Bielsa’s side secured a superb ninth place but with Los Blancos just two points above the bottom three, Andrea Radrizzani and co decided to part ways.

Here’s how fans reacted to the news.

@Leeds_lord: Absolutely the wrong decision and the way it was handled is a disgrace and fans will remember it. Thank you for everything Marcelo.”

@theoriginalgus1: “Furious. Disgusting by the board for not being loyal and trusting Bielsa after what he has done for the club. He has won the right to end the season.

@LufcLuke_: “He made us fall in love with football all over again. Forever a Leeds United legend. Thank you Marcelo.”

@OliWhiteMOT93: “He made us dream. He took us home. Thank you Marcelo.

@Alltheleedstalk: “Thank you Marcelo. You were an inspiration and you will never be forgotten, being part of our club’s history forever.

@mattthirtynine: “Thank you Marcelo, the statement shows how much he is appreciated. Let’s hope the new manager gets people’s support. It’s not his fault that we are in this position.

@BenjaminTlufc: “I hope you showed him some dignity and thanked him for all of us. Without him, we wouldn’t be where we are now, I’m absolutely certain of that. He gave us hope, he made us believe and after everything we’ve been through, that’s an achievement.

@Plute93: “99% of the fans will agree he deserved to finish the season and leave on his own terms. Bielsa will go down as a Leeds legend.
