Memorable Company Story 1: The Unexpected Thank You Gift
I received an unexpected courier package a few days ago. It was a small box and I had no idea where it came from.
I opened the box and inside were special bath salts and magnesium spray from a local company called Salt & Oil.
Inside the box was a handwritten thank you note from Dionne, one of Salt & Oil’s owners.
The note said: “Graham, just a tiny thank you for your upbeat emails – they’re the only ones I open every day, knowing I’ll be inspired. If you don’t like taking a bath or a foot bath, you can maybe offer them Best wishes, Dionne.
I looked at the Salt & Oil website and liked what I read. And here I tell you about the company today.
Memorable Business Story 2: The milk bottle cart
A few days ago I went to the New Lynn branch of the New World Supermarket in Auckland. I noticed that their silver metal caddies had all been replaced with brand new red caddies. When I picked out a shopping cart to use, there was a sign saying it was made with 66 recycled milk bottles. I looked at all the carts and saw that some of them even had a cup holder in the handle of the cart.
The new cart was lighter than the previous ones I used, and I told several friends about it. A friend of mine said that a cup holder on the cart was a great idea as they could enjoy a cup of coffee while shopping. And here I mention New World and their recycled milk bottle shopping carts today.
Memorable Company Story 3: Ultra-fast service
I had a fridge in my old house that needed to be moved before the new owners moved in. The refrigerator had an ice maker and a water cooler so it was hooked up. I needed the fridge safely disconnected from the water supply, so I called a plumbing company. to get help. I phoned the plumbing company at 10:53am and the friendly lady on the phone told me that a plumber would be available later that afternoon. She said the plumber would call me shortly.
Five minutes later the plumber called me and asked if he could come over now. He was doing work higher up the same road.
Eight minutes later, the plumber arrived and did the job. He turned the water off, unplugged the refrigerator, and turned the water back on. I looked at my watch as the plumber drove down the driveway after finishing the job. And it was only 11:23.
So from the time I called the plumbing company to when the work was actually done, it only took 30 minutes. And best of all was the name of the plumbing company, PLUMBQUICK. They certainly lived up to their name for my work!
Now, each of these memorable business stories has one thing in common. They tell a memorable story about a company. And I’ve shared each of those memorable stories with a number of people now.
